Job summary

Markon Solutions seeks a Specialized Engineer III (Welding) to support the Naval Nuclear Laboratory's Welding Engineering at Bettis. You will join a team to assess, develop, test, and evaluate repair technologies through lab work and subcontract efforts across NN L, shipyards, and Naval Reactors HQ.

The role requires onsite work in West Mifflin, PA, with up to 10% remote work, active DOE L clearance, and some travel to vendors. A BS/MS in a related field with years of experience is expected.

Qualifications

• Active DOE L clearance required to be considered.
• BS in Welding Engineering or related field with ≥5 years experience; MS with ≥3 years is acceptable.
• Experience delivering technical presentations.
• Ability to lead and execute laboratory operations in a productive, timely, and compliant manner.

Responsibilities

• Identify, research, test, and evaluate metallic and non-metallic repair technologies.
• Leverage welding, machining, and other processes to support repair tech development.
• Plan, follow up, and execute technical work efforts.
• Develop technical instructions and procedures for engineering and repair activities.
• Track procurement actions and budget performance for assigned projects.
• Prepare technical submittals, recommendations, and engineering docs.
• Support project planning, equipment testing, and repair deployment at vendors/shipyards.
• Coordinate with NN L stakeholders across sites and HQ.
