Job summary

Markon is seeking a Specialized Engineer III to support the Naval Nuclear Laboratory's Welding Engineering organization at the Bettis site, performing lab-based assessment, development, testing, and evaluation of repair technologies with a team of engineers. Regular onsite work in West Mifflin, PA is required, with up to 10% remote work and travel to vendors and shipyards.

• Active DOE L clearance is required.
• BS in Welding Eng, Materials Sci & Eng, Mechanical Eng, or related field with 5+ years experience; OR MS in same fields with 3+ years experience.
• Experience delivering technical presentations.
• Ability to lead and execute laboratory operations in a compliant, timely manner.

Responsibilities

• Identify, research, test, and evaluate repair technologies with engineering teams.
• Support planning, execution, and follow-up of technical work efforts.
• Develop technical instructions and procedures for repair activities.
• Coordinate with vendors, shipyards, and NN L organizations for tech transfer.
• Prepare technical submittals and reports; track procurement actions and budgets.
• Support testing at vendors and shipyards and document results.
