Job summary

Challenge Manufacturing is seeking a Welding Engineer for its Spartanburg, SC plant. You will develop welding techniques, maintain processes, and contribute to line launches.

The role focuses on GMAW, RSW, and DAW across ferrous and aluminum work, with emphasis on safety and quality. Ideal candidates have a BSc in Welding Engineering and 1–3 years of experience in welding manufacturing, plus familiarity with robotic welding (ABB/Fanuc) and destructive testing methods.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Welding Engineering or equivalent understanding of resistance welding and arc welding principles.
• 1-3 years’ experience in a welding manufacturing environment, automotive experience preferred.
• Robotic welding experience is preferred (ABB/Fanuc). Destructive testing experience for RSW/DAW/GMAW is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain existing welding processes to Challenge Manufacturing standards.
• Reduce costs through continuous improvement activities improving safety, quality and productivity.
• Develop and maintain weld parameter/setup sheets and schedules for GMAW, RSW, and DAW.
• Support line launches and standardization across welding processes.
• Troubleshoot welding issues on production tooling and interface with vendors.
