Job summary

Challenge Manufacturing is seeking a Welding Engineer for a 2nd shift (1:30 PM–9:30 PM), Monday–Friday, at our Spartanburg, SC plant. The role focuses on developing welding techniques and maintaining production standards for GMAW, RSW, and DAW across ferrous and nonferrous metals.

You will define weld setup sheets and lead line-launch verifications with cross-functional teams. Candidates should have a BS in Welding Engineering and 1–3 years of welding manufacturing experience; automotive

Qualifications

• BS in Welding Engineering or equivalent, with welding standards knowledge.
• 1-3 years in welding manufacturing; automotive experience preferred.
• Experience with RSW, GMAW, and DAW on steel varieties.
• Robotic welding experience with ABB or Fanuc preferred.
• Destructive testing setup and training experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve welding processes to Challenge standards.
• Lead cost-reduction through safety, quality, productivity improvements.
• Develop and maintain weld parameter/setup sheets.
• Support new line launch verification projects.
• Develop training documentation for joining processes.
• Troubleshoot welding issues on production tooling.
• Interface with equipment vendors and customers.
