Job summary

Sun Recruiting, Inc. seeks a Weld Engineer to develop and sustain welding and additive manufacturing processes, including direct energy deposition.

You will lead certifications, provide hands-on shop support, and drive technology advancement across QA, NDE, and manufacturing teams. The role requires 1–3 years in welding engineering or additive manufacturing research, plus strong metallurgical knowledge and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Weld Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or Materials Science, or comparable industry experience.
• 1–3 years of experience as a weld engineer or in additive manufacturing research.
• Experience building and maintaining a certified weld program.
• Working knowledge of metallurgy as it relates to welding and heat treatment.
• Strong listening and communication skills.
• Familiarity with AWS, ASME, and NDE standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop and own the welding program (AWS, ASME and others).
• Provide on-the-floor support to welders and engineering staff in welding/additive processes.
• Collaborate with NDE to develop weld inspection programs.
• Develop and implement welding and additive manufacturing procedures.
• Create customer-facing work procedures for new/repaired products.
• Review qualification samples with materials lab to ensure quality.
• Lead R&D for process improvements and new product types with cross-functional teams.
• Act as technology SME in welding and additive manufacturing; represent the company in industry groups.
