Job summary

Accounting Search is seeking a Weld Engineer in Illinois to develop and sustain welding and additive manufacturing processes, including direct energy deposition. You will support shop operations, oversee qualifications, and drive process improvements with cross-functional teams.

The role requires 1–3 years of welding experience, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to lead certification efforts with AWS/ASME standards. Collaboration with quality and materials labs is essential.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Weld Engineering, Metallurgical, or Materials Science or equivalent experience.
• 1–3 years of weld engineering work or additive manufacturing research.
• Experience building and maintaining certified weld programs; familiarity with AWS/ASME standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop and own welding programs (AWS, ASME) and collaborate on certifications.
• Provide on-floor support to welders and additive processes.
• Work with NDT to develop weld inspection programs.
• Draft manufacturing and welding procedures and customer-facing work procedures.
• Coordinate with materials lab to review weld samples and qualification data.
• Interpret industry specs and communicate requirements.
• Lead troubleshooting using a scientific approach.
• Disposition welding quality rejections and drive corrective actions.
• Support supplier qualification and cross-functional teams on new products.
