Job summary

Joseph Michaels International is seeking a Weld Engineer to develop and sustain welding and additive manufacturing processes, including Direct Energy Deposition. You will oversee qualification programs, provide shop support, and collaborate across QA, NDT, and engineering teams to ensure product quality and certification readiness.

The role requires hands-on problem solving, strong metallurgical knowledge, and the ability to translate standards into practical manufacturing procedures and work

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Weld Engineering or Metallurgical Engineering, or related field, preferred.
• 1–3 years welding engineering or additive manufacturing research experience.
• Strong knowledge of welding processes, metallurgy, and heat treatment principles.
• Excellent listening and communication skills.
• Experience building and maintaining certified weld programs.

Responsibilities

• Develop and own the welding program (AWS, ASME and others).
• Provide on-the-floor support to welders and engineers in welding and additive processes.
• Collaborate with QA for certification requirements and process improvements.
• Work with NDT to develop and sustain weld inspection programs.
• Develop procedures for welding and additive manufacturing.
• Review welder qualifications and ensure consistent quality performance.
• Interpret industry specifications and communicate requirements to teams.
• Lead troubleshooting using a scientific approach and implement corrective actions.
