Job summary

Food Management Search, Inc. is seeking a Weld Engineer in Illinois to develop and sustain welding and additive manufacturing processes, including Direct Energy Deposition.

The role combines hands-on shop support with engineering problem solving and accountability for program accreditation. Responsibilities include owning the welding program to AWS/ASME, on-the-floor support, working with NDE and materials lab, writing procedures, and driving process improvements through cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in welding, metallurgy, or materials science related to weld processes.
• 1–3 years welding or additive manufacturing experience.
• Experience building and maintaining certified weld programs.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and own the welding program (AWS, ASME and others).
• Provide on-the-floor support to welders and engineers.
• Collaborate with NDE to develop weld inspection programs.
• Write and implement welding and additive manufacturing procedures.
• Develop customer-facing procedures for new or repaired products.
• Review materials and welder qualifications to ensure quality.
• Interpret specs and communicate requirements.
• Lead error-correction using scientific methods.
• Research and development for process and product improvement.
• Represent the company in industry organizations when needed.
