Job summary

The Salvation Army in Rochester is seeking a Resident Assistant to provide support to shelter residents and help maintain a hospitable and safe environment. This is a part-time position working 16 hours per week, Saturdays and Sundays from 2:45 p.m.

to 11:15 p.m., on-site at the shelter. Responsibilities include monitoring residents, completing logs, conducting security wanding, maintaining facility cleanliness, and handling basic record-keeping in ADP.

Qualifications

• Crisis intervention, interpersonal and communication skills needed.
• Ability to work in a continually changing and challenging environment.
• Flexibility in personal work schedule; must be available for relief hours as needed.
• Basic computer skills for intakes, time sheets, email, and daily logs.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to shelter residents.
• Monitor residents and complete daily Shift Log check-list and review Communication Log per shift.
• Conduct security wanding upon admission and random wand checks.
• Monitor facility by rounds every 30 minutes and inspect rooms for cleanliness and safety.
• Refer residents to other shelters when program beds are unavailable.
• Maintain basic records, complete electronic intakes and accurate time sheets in ADP.
