Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a part-time Shelter Support staff to provide supervision, intake, and security for residents in a Christian environment. The role includes assisting with daily operations, coordinating with volunteers, and ensuring safety and cleanliness of shelter areas.

Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year of experience. The position requires flexibility, strong communication, and the ability to handle confidential information.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be able to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
• Strong communication skills in writing and speaking.

Responsibilities

• Conduct intake interview of incoming residents into the shelter.
• Assign a proper room; distribute bedding and personal care items.
• Provide supervision of shelter and residents; enforce rules and policies.
• Answer phone calls and take messages as needed.
• General cleaning as necessary and coffee/breakfast duties.
• Administer breathalyzer tests and review logbooks.
• Inspect rooms and ensure cleaning standards are met.
• Distribute medications as needed and ensure safety.
• Oversee volunteers and seasonal staff as assigned.
• Other duties as assigned.
