The Salvation Army in Richmond, VA is hiring for a Casual Housing support role. The position supports shelter operations, monitors client safety, and helps maintain orderly common areas.

Responsibilities include assisting with intake, distributing items, light housekeeping, and recording incidents. Must have a high school diploma or GED; CPR is preferred. Shifts vary, including weekends and evenings.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
• One year experience performing security or social service work preferred, OR
• Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Responsabilités

• Monitors the activities of shelter clients, ensuring their safety, comfort, and compliance with house rules.
• Supports inclement weather shelter operations, to include preparing sleeping and dining areas prior to shelter opening; maintaining an orderly client check-in waiting line; conducting the client intake process; distributing items for clients’ personal use like blankets; cleaning the sleeping and dining areas as needed throughout the shift.
