Hope House in Rochester, NY seeks a Resident Assistant to support shelter residents under the supervision of the Program Manager, ensuring a hospitable and safe environment. On-call staff agree to one 8-hour shift per month and cover at least three Salvation Army holidays annually.

Responsibilities include monitoring residents, completing logs, conducting wanding, making rounds, and facilitating referrals when beds are unavailable. Training and meetings are part of the role.

Qualifications

• Crisis intervention and strong interpersonal communication are required.
• Ability to work in a dynamic shelter environment and adapt to changes.
• Basic computer skills for intakes, logs, and emails.

Responsabilités

• Provide support to shelter residents.
• Monitor resident activities and complete shift logs.
• Conduct security wanding on admission and random wand checks.
• Walk rounds every 30 minutes, ensure rooms are clean and rules are followed.
• Refer to alternative shelters when beds are unavailable.
• Maintain basic records, complete time sheets, and perform electronic intakes.
• Check work email daily and attend staff/resident meetings.
• Complete mandatory training and participate in in-service sessions.
• Handle linen cleaning and facility cleanliness.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
