Job summary

DOCS Health seeks an Optometric Technician to support vision exams for military service members. The role centers on weekend work with occasional weekdays, operating optical machinery, and interfacing with patient care software in a mobile/clinic setting.

Responsibilities include assisting the optometrist, taking histories, helping patients choose frames, and maintaining records. Some travel may be required, and a background check is standard.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience as an optometric or ophthalmic technician.
• Experience performing visual fields, OCTs, and Fundus Photography is required.
• Experience with computers, including word processing, databases, and spreadsheets.

Responsibilities

• Helping the optometrist with procedures and patient care.
• Taking patient histories and maintaining the patient records system.
• Assisting patients to select a suitable frame for their glasses.
• Demonstrating care and maintenance of lenses to patients.
• Repairing minor issues with broken and damaged eyeglasses.
• Keeping the office organized and presentable, and preparing the exam room.
• Testing visual acuity, depth perception, pressure and pupil reflexes.
