Job summary

Excelsior University is seeking part-time clinical instructors to support nursing students in clinical sites and online learning environments. Instructors will complete onboarding, follow the Clinical Faculty Handbook, and supervise students through weekends and sessions.

Responsibilities include grading, providing timely feedback, and coordinating patient assignments while demonstrating nursing skills with EHR and other tech tools.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in nursing or BSN pursuing master's/doctoral
• Active NYS RN license
• Minimum of 5 years RN experience in varied clinical areas
• Current clinical experience within an acute care hospital setting
• Experience supervising nursing students and/or new graduate RNs
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Experience with educational technology (video conferencing)
• Current BLS certification

Responsibilities

• Complete onboarding and training requirements for Excelsior University and site
• Adhere to all institution policies in the Clinical Faculty Handbook
• Work 2 non-consecutive weekends during an 8-week term with specified hours (Fri orientation 2h; Sat/Sun 12.5h)
• Grade clinical assignments using rubrics by due dates
• Remain present for the full clinical day and hours
• Plan and coordinate patient assignments for each student
• Demonstrate nursing skills and related technology (EHR, pumps, etc.)
• Engage with students via Canvas LMS and provide synchronous Zoom sessions
• Provide individualized feedback highlighting strengths and improvement areas
• Complete individual clinical evaluation rubrics for each student promptly
