Job summary

Excelsior University is seeking part-time clinical instructors to support courses and provide prompt responses to student needs. Instructors will offer timely formative feedback and demonstrate clinical expertise by supervising and evaluating students’ clinical experiences.

Duties include completing training, following policies, working two non-consecutive weekends during an 8-week term, planning assignments, and using Canvas LMS and Zoom for student interaction.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in nursing or BSN with active enrollment toward higher degree in Nursing.
• Active NYS RN license.
• Minimum of 5 years RN experience in varied clinical areas.
• Current clinical experience in acute care hospital setting.
• Experience supervising nursing students and/or new graduate RNs.
• Strong communication skills; ability to present clearly and concisely.
• Experience with educational technology including video conferencing.
• Current BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Complete institution-sponsored training program.
• Adhere to institution policies in the Clinical Faculty Handbook.
• Work 2 non-consecutive weekends during an 8-week term (Fri 6 hours; Sat/Sun 12 hours).
• Remain present for the entire clinical day.
• Plan and coordinate patient assignments for each student.
• Demonstrate nursing skills and use of related technology.
• Complete facility training requirements.
• Participate in pre-/post-clinical activities in Canvas LMS.
• Conduct synchronous Zoom sessions with students.
• Provide evidence-based professional examples to students.
• Offer individualized feedback and summarize strengths and areas for improvement.
• Complete clinical evaluations for each student.
