Job summary

State of South Dakota is seeking a Registered Nurse for a straight weekend night shift at the South Dakota State Penitentiary in Sioux Falls. Compensation ranges from $33.24 to $38.97 hourly, with a base plus a 15% weekend differential. A $10,000 hiring incentive and full state benefits are offered, with SDRS retirement.

Applicants must hold an active RN license and be able to work weekends and holidays. Training, background checks, and CPR/defensive training are required per the role.

Qualifications

• Current, valid RN license from SD Board of Nursing or eNLC participating state.
• Ability to document accurately and maintain inmate medical records.
• Ability to communicate clearly in English, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled nursing care to incarcerated offenders in clinic settings.
• Perform clinical tasks including administering medications and assisting with procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality and ensure safety and security of the clinical environment.
• Document and triage patient needs, education, and follow-up per nursing guidelines.
• Assist physicians and other staff with clinical duties and emergency responses.
