Job summary

The State of South Dakota Department of Corrections is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Jameson Prison Annex in Sioux Falls. This night-shift role runs 7 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.

for 36 hours weekly, with every third holiday and the potential for weekends depending on staffing. A $10,000 hiring incentive and comprehensive state benefits are offered. Responsibilities include administering medications, patient education, documentation, and support for treatment plans.

Qualifications

• Possess a current, valid Registered Nurse license (SD Board of Nursing or eNLC participating state).
• Provide skilled nursing care in clinic settings for incarcerated offenders.
• Demonstrate ability to document accurately, educate patients, and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical care and treatments, administer medications, and support treatment plans.
• Assist physicians and other clinicians with procedures as needed.
• Document offender medical records promptly and accurately.
• Maintain infection control and safety in the clinical environment.
• Coordinate on referrals and care for new arrivals and emergencies.
• Support security measures and staff with self-defense and safety training.
