Job summary

ATI is seeking a CNC Machinist/Machine Operator for our Appleton, WI facility. You will operate vertical turning centers to produce precision forgings for aerospace, in a safe, climate-controlled shop.

This weekend nights position (Fri–Sun, 5pm–5am) includes training for a motivated, mechanically inclined candidate. You will read instructions, set up machines, measure parts, and ensure conformance to drawings while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience in a transferrable industry with transferrable skills.
• Basic reading, math, and measurement comprehension.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent, Vo-Tech Certificate or associate degree in electrical, mechanical or related curriculum

Responsibilities

• Reads work instructions, setup sheets, first piece and in-process check sheets from supervision and indicates operations to be performed.
• Reads and interprets dimension drawings, sketches, tool setup sheets and manufacturing instructions for machining operations and setups.
• Uses drawings to determine required dimensions, travels and tolerances to be maintained.
• Oversees and controls the operation of machining centers to machine forgings from various super alloys with support from engineering and programming.
• Uses precision measuring devices to check machined dimensions and surface finishes per customer prints/specifications.
• Loads and unloads pieces using an overhead hoist and handles material safely.
