Job summary

Advocate Health seeks a chaplain to deliver person-centered spiritual care for patients, families, and staff, providing sacraments and crisis support. The role covers weekend/night shifts and requires active collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Requirements include a BA/BS, Master of Divinity (or equivalent) with endorsements, 4 CPE units, and board-certification readiness within 18 months of hire, plus 1–3 years of clinical chaplaincy experience.

Qualifications

• BA or BS in an accredited college or university.
• Master of Divinity or equivalent Master's program with endorsement requirements.
• Four completed units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE).
• Ecclesiastical endorsement from sponsoring faith community.
• Member in good standing with sponsoring faith community; 1–3 years of clinical chaplaincy experience.

Responsibilities

• Deliver person-centered ministry of spiritual care, support, and sacraments for patients, families, physicians, and hospital personnel.
• Provide spiritual care services, consultation and support as assigned and per department policies.
• Facilitate sacraments (Holy Communion, Baptism, Confession) and other rites.
• Respond to codes and emergencies; provide spiritual care during crises.
• Support families in health care decisions and Advance Directives processes.
• Promote patient safety and ethical discussions; collaborate with chaplains and staff.
