Job summary

Atrium Health Cabarrus is seeking a Chaplain to provide dignified spiritual care for patients, families, and staff on weekend night shifts. You will facilitate sacraments, respond to emergencies, and support ethical discussions within a faith-based hospital setting.

The role requires a BA/BS, Master of Divinity, CPE, ecclesiastical endorsement, and 1–3 years of chaplaincy experience, with opportunities for advancement and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university.
• Master of Divinity or equivalent Master’s program; equivalency letter required from certifying agency.
• Four completed units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) with ecclesiastical endorsement.
• Member in good standing with sponsoring faith community; may require affiliation with certifying bodies.

Responsibilities

• Provide person-centered spiritual care, support, and sacraments for patients, families, physicians, and staff.
• Facilitate sacraments (Holy Communion, Baptism, Confession) and related rites.
• Respond to codes and emergencies; support staff during critical incidents.
• Assist families with advance directives and ethical discussions; document in medical records.
• Support and participate in the life of the Mission and Spiritual Care department; ensure 24/7 site coverage.
• Contribute to patient care planning meetings and multidisciplinary team activities.
• Promote patient safety by reporting issues and engaging in safety initiatives.
