Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Part-time Chaplain to provide pastoral care within the Department of Spiritual Care and Education. You will conduct individual pastoral visits and offer counseling to patients and families, coordinating with community clergy and maintaining confidentiality of all pastoral conversations.

The role requires seminary education, ordination, and ACPE training with supervision; schedule includes various duties and regular team meetings in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited theological seminary or divinity school is required.
• Ordination and/or licensed by a recognized ecclesiastical authority/denomination.
• 1 unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE) required within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs individual pastoral visitation and provides pastoral care as requested.
• Ensures appropriate response and follow-up on referrals.
• Coordinates spiritual care with community clergy and liaises with clergy as needed.
• Provides spiritual care and counseling to patients and families.
• Maintains confidentiality of all pastoral work and conversations.
• Participates in team meetings and maintains supervisory meetings with the supervisor.

Education

Theological seminary or Divinity School degree

Ordination/licensed by ecclesiastical authority

ACPE Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) within 1 year
