Job summary

Advocate Health in Charlotte, NC seeks a chaplain to deliver holistic spiritual care to patients and families, integrate with the care team, and provide counseling and consultation as needed. You will respond to emergencies, support ethical discussions, and participate in education initiatives across sites.

Requirements include a completed MA/MDiv in a related field, 3 years of chaplaincy experience, and endorsement by a faith group.

Qualifications

• Completed graduate degree (MA, MDiv) in religious studies, theology, divinity or related field.
• Prior clinical experience as a chaplain: 3 years.
• Eligible for board certification as a chaplain: APC/BCCI, NACC, NAJC; completed within 18 months of hire.
• Endorsed by faith group

Responsibilities

• Delivers holistic ministry of spiritual care to patients, families, team members and physicians.
• Provides spiritual care, consultation and short-term counseling as assigned.
• Responds to codes, emergencies and crises; supports families and patient safety.
• Participates in department/site activities to ensure integrated services and site coverage.
• Mentors students in collaboration with clinical pastoral education.
• Supports Advocates Health mission and hospital ministry through referrals and education.
• Provides spiritual health education and crisis debriefings.
• Maintains ecclesiastical endorsement and faith group involvement.
• Participates in education initiatives and support groups for patients, families and staff.
