Job summary

The Children’s Discovery Museum is seeking a friendly front desk staff member to work weekends. You will greet visitors, handle admissions, sell memberships and tickets to events, and answer questions while keeping the lobby tidy and inviting.

You will engage visitors on the exhibit floor, help organize events or birthday parties, and work with the team to maintain a safe, welcoming environment for children and families. This role requires reliability and adaptability in a dynamic museum setting.

Qualifications

• Customer service, retail and/or cash register experience preferred
• Strong verbal communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
• Flexible and adaptable to changing circumstances
• Dependability is required

Responsibilities

• Open and close Museum, including cleaning and preparing the exhibit hall for guests
• Greet visitors, charge admission fees, sell Annual Memberships and tickets to upcoming events, and answer questions
• Communicate with visitors regarding daily events, groups, birthdays and other information
• Keep front desk, information tables and lobby neat, clean and well organized
• Engage with visitors throughout the museum exhibits and promote memorable play experiences
• Occasionally facilitate art or STEM activities for museum visitors
• Assist with setting up birthday parties or other events
• Reset and clean the Museum throughout the day to provide a fresh and engaging play space for visitors
• Work as a team with other staff to ensure a clean and safe environment
