Job summary

The New York Times is seeking an editor to lead our weekend off-platform audience growth across social and search. You will guide a small team of editors, program our social accounts, and shape journalism for weekend audiences, balancing tactical execution with strategic vision.

You will translate data and audience signals into SEO and social practices, work with newsroom reporters, and uphold journalistic independence while expanding our reach on weekends.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in social media, SEO or digital journalism for a news organization.
  • Excellent news and editorial judgment and exceptional editing skills.
  • Proven track record of identifying real time coverage opportunities using internal data and external audience signals.
  • Strong writing and editing skills and knowledge of Times style.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the weekend social report off-platform and guide social editors to reach audiences.
  • Conduct daily performance tracking and identify immediate content opportunities and optimizations.
  • Translate complex changes into actionable SEO recommendations for newsroom teams.
  • Lead weekend reporting, organize plans for signature enterprise stories and priority projects.
  • Monitor on-site and off-platform conversations for story ideas.
  • Define the voice of The Times across off-platform channels and ensure audience engagement.
