USA TODAY Co., Inc. is seeking an innovative Audience Editor to lead audience engagement for our news, economy and lifestyle coverage.

You will drive growth, discoverability and revenue by translating data into newsroom actions, guiding a small team of content creators, and collaborating across platforms like TikTok, Reddit, newsletters and social channels. You’ll monitor analytics, lead planning for major events, and experiment with new tactics to ensure our journalism reaches and resonates

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing or related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 5 years of newsroom experience, including management, preferably in an audience development role at a digitally-focused media organization.
• Proven passion and experience with storytelling via social media, search and newsletters across major platforms.
• Strong ability to translate data into actionable newsroom strategies and reader engagement.

Responsibilities

• Develop strategies and workflows to achieve audience growth and discoverability on social, newsletters, and search.
• Monitor analytics and translate data into concrete steps for journalists and teams.
• Lead audience planning for major events, tentpoles and breaking news, shaping packaging and distribution.
• Create and optimize audience-focused content during major events and breaking news.
• Partner to monetize journalism and grow audience on social media and distributed channels.
• Manage a team of content creators ensuring brand voice and cross‑platform consistency.
• Create and monitor KPI progress for loyalty, engagement and relevance.
• Experiment with new tactics to support company goals.
