Job summary

Moffatt & Nichol in California seeks a Structural Intern to join either the Walnut Creek or Oakland office. The intern is an entry-level, temporary student role that supports project teams in engineering, planning, CAD/BIM, and data collection for site development and waterfront infrastructure.

Under close supervision, you will assist with drawings, data gathering, basic analyses, and the preparation of plan documents while learning MN tools and workflows.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 preferred.
• Basic understanding of civil engineering fundamentals (grading, drainage, stormwater, utilities, site layout).
• Familiarity with AutoCAD; learning MicroStation or Civil 3D.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation of engineering design documents, plans, and specifications under direct supervision.
• Prepare drawings and draft documents under direction.
• Collect and organize field data, reports, maps, and geotechnical/hydrological data.
• Produce basic drawings, models, calculations, or code under direct supervision using CAD/BIM or related software.
• Support project team by viewing and interpreting 2D/3D models.
