Job summary

Moffatt & Nichol is seeking an Entry to Junior Waterfront Structural Engineer for our Oakland or Walnut Creek offices. You will support the design and analysis of marine infrastructure, performing FE modeling and contributing to drawings and specifications.

The role develops under supervision, with growth toward independent technical tasks, and requires working knowledge of AutoCAD and structural software. California-based, full-time opportunity.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with 0–3 years of experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with 2–4 years of experience, also considered.
• Working knowledge of structural engineering, including design and detailing for waterfront structures.

Responsibilities

• Assist with structural analysis, design, and detailing for concrete, steel, and timber waterfront structures.
• Assist with preparation of design concepts, specifications, schedules, cost estimates, and quantity takeoffs.
• Perform finite element static and dynamic structural modelling.
• Coordinate plan details with drafting technicians.
• Work closely with other disciplines on multidisciplinary projects.
• Assist with inspection of waterfront structures and preparation of inspection reports.
• Learn quality and documentation standards at Moffatt & Nichol.
