Job summary

Moffatt & Nichol is seeking an Entry Level Structural Engineer to join our Walnut Creek or Oakland office. You will assist in the design and analysis of waterfront and marine infrastructure, contributing to structural calculations, drawings, and specifications under supervision.

As you grow, you will take on defined technical tasks such as finite element modelling and inspection support, gaining independence while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on a range of coastal projects.

Qualifications

• Master's in Civil/Structural Eng with 0–3 years experience.
• Bachelor's in Civil/Structural Eng with 2–4 years experience.
• Knowledge of concrete, steel, timber waterfront structures.
• Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation and STAAD/SAP.
• EIT certification preferred.
• Familiarity with design codes and standards.
• Pre-employment background check per NIST 800-171.
• US work authorization and E-Verify compliance.

Responsibilities

• Assist with structural analysis, design, detailing for waterfront structures.
• Prepare design concepts, specifications, schedules, and takeoffs.
• Perform finite element static and dynamic modelling.
• Coordinate plan details with drafters.
• Work with other disciplines on multidisciplinary projects.
• Assist with inspection of waterfront structures and reports.
• Learn Moffatt & Nichol quality and documentation standards.
