Job summary

Moffatt & Nichol seeks a Structural Intern for Walnut Creek or Oakland. This entry-level role supports project teams in civil disciplines under close supervision. The intern will assist with design documents, drawings, field data, and basic analyses, growing foundational knowledge of MN workflows.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in Civil Engineering, with exposure to AutoCAD and willingness to learn Civil 3D or MicroStation, and strong Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s program in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Minimum GPA 3.0 preferred.
• Fundamental civil engineering concepts: grading, drainage, utilities, site layout.
• Exposure to AutoCAD; willingness to learn MicroStation or Civil 3D.
• Strong MS Excel skills and data handling.

Responsibilities

• Assists with preparation of engineering design documents, plans, and specifications under direct supervision.
• Prepares drawings and draft documents under direction.
• Collects and organizes field data, reports, maps, and geotechnical data.
• Produces basic drawings, models, calculations using CAD/BIM or related software.
• Follows CAD/BIM standards and plotting workflows; supports project team.
