Job summary

RK&K is seeking a motivated Structural Project Engineer to join our municipal infrastructure team in a hybrid role. You will lead structural design tasks across water and wastewater facilities, review deliverables, and coordinate with geotechnical, architectural, and mechanical disciplines from concept to construction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with a structural focus.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• 4+ years of structural engineering experience, with a focus on environmental and building-type structures.
• Proficiency applying building design codes and standards: IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318, ACI 350, AISC 360, TMS 402/602.
• Proficiency with structural analysis and design software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, RISA-3D, RAM).
• Strong understanding of lateral load paths (wind/seismic) and liquid-retaining concrete design.
• Strong technical writing, communication, and task management skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design of existing and new reinforced concrete, masonry, steel, stainless steel, and aluminum structures, including shallow and deep foundations.
• Prepare structural design calculations, plans, specifications, and construction documents for water/wastewater municipal projects.
• Perform QC reviews of design deliverables to ensure compliance with codes and client requirements.
• Take independent ownership of routine structural design tasks while collaborating with senior engineers.
• Coordinate structural systems with other disciplines to resolve project constraints.
• Participate in project progress meetings and assist in preparing technical materials.
• Provide construction phase support including review of shop drawings and RFIs.
• Conduct site investigations and condition assessments of existing facilities.
• Develop engineering reports and repair strategies for deteriorated structures.
• Prepare engineering construction cost estimates.
• Track progress and budgets for structural scope items.
• Assist in development of project scopes and budgets.
• Mentor junior engineers and maintain licensure.
