Job summary

Colonial Group seeks a Team Leader – Water/Wastewater to oversee backflow and FOG programs, ensuring safe potable water, wastewater collection, and reclamation operations. Manages compliance with local, state, and federal laws while guiding staff and delivering high-quality customer service.

The role involves supervising inspections, budget participation, and coordination with the Environmental Services Manager and other city divisions. Strong leadership and regulatory knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in environmental science or related field
• Experience working with computers and location devices
• Experience in reading maps, blueprints and engineering plans

Responsibilities

• Oversees program requirements and compliance schedules
• Leads a team testing backflow, FOG and stormwater facilities
• Responds to inquiries and complaints about programs
• Assists with development of program goals, objectives and policies
• Participates in policy implementation decisions
• Participates in annual budget processes for each program
• Reviews plans and drawings for backflow devices, grease traps and erosion control
• Leads creation of educational materials for utility customers on a schedule
• Delivers monthly program reports to management and semi-annual updates to leadership
• Acts as field liaison to other divisions and outside agencies
• Represents the City at meetings and workgroups
• Assists with regulatory changes and budget impact communications
• Prepares staff reports and correspondence
• Follows City policies, procedures and safety guidelines
• Performs other duties as assigned
