Job summary

Gfoat seeks an Assistant Superintendent – Water/Wastewater to supervise maintenance and operations of the city’s water and wastewater systems. Under the Superintendent, you will mentor staff, manage projects, and ensure safe, compliant operations across facilities.

This role requires extensive experience, strong leadership, and hands-on ability with valves, pumps, meters, and telemetry. You will coordinate with customers and public, respond to after-hours issues, and help train the utility

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of water and wastewater system operations and maintenance.
• Ability to supervise, train, and evaluate staff effectively.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, plans, and regulations.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in basic computer and electronic work order systems.

Responsibilities

• Train, supervise, and support employees in the installation, operation, repair, and maintenance of water and wastewater systems.
• Operate and maintain wells, lift stations, generators, and related infrastructure on a routine basis.
• Assist with the collection of samples and the installation and repair of pipes, taps, meters, and related equipment.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal water and wastewater regulations.
• Receive and respond to electronic work orders and communications.
• Utilize the Texas 811 electronic line locate request system.
