Job summary

McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. is seeking a Water Preconstruction Director in California to lead preconstruction on complex water and wastewater projects from early pursuit through handoff to construction.

The role drives pursuit strategy, leads CMAR and Progressive Design-Build efforts, and oversees schedule, design development, and cost estimating from concept through GMP. Responsibilities include risk management, budget control, and cultivating relationships with owners, designers, trade

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, and/or minimum 10 years of applicable estimating, design management and/or field management experience.
Proven experience managing preconstruction for large scale projects ($100M+) with emphasis on highly complex projects.
In-depth knowledge of water/wastewater construction principles/practices required.
Experience with developing and managing relationships with owners, design teams, trade partners and vendors.

Responsibilities

Lead preconstruction efforts for large water/wastewater projects from pursuit through GMP.
Manage cost estimating at design milestones (10%–100%).
Coordinate with owners, designers, and McCarthy teams to maintain schedule and budget.
Provide solutions balancing cost, schedule, constructability, and life-cycle cost.
