Apex Companies is seeking a seasoned Principal to lead our Water/Wastewater Practice in the Northeast. You will shape the strategic direction, recruit and mentor staff, and drive client relationships and growth across Massachusetts, Rhode Island, or Connecticut.

This role emphasizes leadership, business development, and technical excellence within a national firm. Ideal candidates bring 15+ years of water/wastewater experience, PE licensure, and a track record of delivering complex projects with

Qualifications

BS or MS Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
15+ years of relevant water/wastewater experience.
Registered Professional Engineer or equivalent licensure preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead and mentor engineers, scientists, project managers, and staff to deliver high‑quality results.
Recruit and develop junior staff, supporting growth and career advancement.
Cultivate relationships with new and existing clients and partners for cross-selling.
Manage projects from development through completion, including scope, budget, and schedule.
Ensure QA/QC procedures and risk management are applied on all projects.
Develop proposals and manage contract terms and amendments with senior management input.
Oversee project budgets and invoicing in line with company policy.
