Job summary

The City of El Paso seeks a dedicated operator to assist in the operation, maintenance, and repair of water and wastewater treatment systems. You will monitor processes via SCADA, adjust chemical dosing, and ensure compliance with state and federal permits.

Responsibilities include sample testing, equipment inspection, and basic repairs. A valid Texas Class D license is required within six months, with CDL credentials possibly required for some roles.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or higher.
• One year of mechanical maintenance experience or twelve semester hours of credit from an accredited college.
• Six months of maintenance experience or completion of EPW Utility Plant Operator Trainee Program with Class “D” license.
• Texas Class “D” Water or Wastewater Operator’s License required within six months.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and control water or wastewater treatment processes and equipment per permits.
• Operate SCADA system to manage carbonation, fluoridation, chlorination, and related steps.
• Take and test water samples; ensure compliance with state/federal regulations.
• Inspect machinery, perform minor repairs, and assist in preventive maintenance.
