Job summary

Aqua, a subsidiary of Essential Utilities, seeks a trainee to operate and maintain water and wastewater facilities in the Ft. Wayne area. You will assist with treatment processes, respond to customer questions, and support other departments as needed, with on-call duties and potential weekend work after training.

Ideal candidates hold a high school diploma, a valid U.S. driver’s license, and can lift heavy objects while working in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communications with internal staff and customers.
• Strong customer service skills and the ability to help customers effectively.
• Ability to read, understand and follow operating instructions.
• Familiarity with computers and Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Operates treatment processes and equipment in water/wastewater facilities.
• Operates and maintains the wastewater collection system.
• Performs daily plant duties including housekeeping, measuring chemical usage, and sampling.
• Responds to customer questions and complaints.
• Supports other departments, including customer service, as needed.
• Performs On-Call duties related to treatment plant and collection system issues.
• May be assigned weekend work after training period.
• Performs other duties or projects as requested.
