Job summary

San Benito PD is seeking a Public Utilities Coordinator to supervise daily operations of the Water and Wastewater Maintenance Departments. The role involves coordinating staff, overseeing maintenance activities, and ensuring efficient service delivery for the city's water treatment facilities and distribution system.

The ideal candidate has at least five years in water utilities with three years in management, plus relevant licenses and regulatory knowledge.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in water and wastewater utility operations, including at least three (3) years in a management or supervisory capacity.
• Valid Class B Water Distribution Operator License issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) is preferred.
• Must possess and maintain all required training, certifications, licenses, and regulatory compliance as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Oversees preventive maintenance on water and wastewater treatment equipment and facilities.
• Ensures safety policies, procedures, and regulations are followed.
• Develops employee work schedules and monitors daily tasks for timely completion.
• Directs major repairs and improvements to water distribution systems and related infrastructure.
• Maintains operational records and submits reports to state and local agencies.
• Participates in staff hiring, training, supervision, and evaluations.
• Monitors timekeeping and attendance per City policies.
• Coordinates purchasing of supplies and equipment within budget guidelines.
