Job summary

American Water is seeking a Superintendent, Operations to oversee day-to-day water and wastewater operations in St. Louis, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations while driving efficiency and profitability.

The role requires strong leadership, coordination across regions, and incident response readiness. You will lead a diverse team, manage budgets, and work with regulatory bodies and stakeholders to deliver reliable service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
• 2–5 years of supervisory experience preferred.
• Experience with a Union workforce preferred.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications; Excel knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Supervise regional construction, operations, and maintenance within budget.
• Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Train and develop personnel for operational integrity (Q,E,R,H,S, etc.).
• Obtain permits, licenses, and rights of way as needed.
• Support customer service-related issues and operational analysis for pricing and opportunities.
• Lead and coach employees; foster open communication and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate across functions to mitigate business risks and improve efficiency.
• Ensure resources are developed and deployed effectively and promote diversity.
