Job summary

American Water seeks a Superintendent, Field Operations to supervise day-to-day water and wastewater operations in accordance with company policies and all applicable laws and regulations.

You will lead regional construction, operations and maintenance, ensure efficiency and profitability within budget, train personnel in safety and quality, obtain permits, and support business development while fostering diversity and open communications across teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2-5 years experience in operations.
• Bachelor's or equivalent experience preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Water and/or wastewater certification is a plus.
• Field utility experience is highly preferred.
• Previous experience managing a team is preferred; union workforce experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate regional construction, operations, and maintenance within budget.
• Assure policies, procedures, programs and performance are adhered to for efficiency and profitability.
• Train and develop personnel in operational integrity (quality, environment, health and safety).
• Obtain all required permits and licenses for compliance.
• Handle customer service related issues as needed.
• Lead and coach employees; promote diverse workforce and open communication.
• Collaborate with functional leads to mitigate business risks and support pricing and business opportunities.
