Job summary

American Water seeks a Superintendent, Field Operations to oversee day-to-day water and wastewater operations in line with company policies and laws. The role requires hands-on leadership and coordination across regional teams.

You will supervise construction, operations and maintenance within budget, ensure regulatory compliance, and develop staff through training and mentoring. Local travel and an on-site schedule are typical, with a competitive salary and benefits package.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of experience in operations.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Water and/or wastewater certification is a plus.
• Field utility experience is highly preferred.
• Previous experience managing a team is preferred.
• Previous experience managing a Union workforce is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the day-to-day water and wastewater operations.
• Coordinate regional construction, operations and maintenance within budget.
• Assure compliance with policies, procedures, programs and regulations.
• Train and develop personnel in operational integrity (quality, environment, safety).
• Local travel to sites as needed.
