The City of Naperville’s Water Utility is seeking a Water Utility Technician to perform operational, maintenance, repair, and rehabilitation duties and provide customer service to water and wastewater customers. Duties include testing water quality, valve and hydrant work, meter testing, AMI system support, and emergency responses.

Two years of related experience and a valid IL driver’s license are required; IEPA Class D certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of experience with utility location, construction, or a related field.
• Valid State of Illinois driver’s license.
• IEPA Class D Public Water Supply Operator Certification preferred.

Responsabilités

• Provide customer service for water and wastewater utility customers and respond to water quality concerns.
• Repair, install, test, and replace water meters; assist contractors with testing.
• Locate and inspect water system appurtenances and map system data for GIS/CIP projects.
• Collect and analyze water samples; perform routine water quality tests (chlorine).
• Perform non-dig hydrant repairs and b-box adjustments; assist with valve operations.
• Maintain records of complaints, activities, and results; monitor safety and work zones.
• Respond to emergencies after hours and work overtime as needed.
