Job summary

City of Concord is seeking a Water Meter Technician to collect and test water samples and install, inspect, test, repair, and replace water meters and backflow devices.

You will respond to customer inquiries, perform flushing of hydrants, document inspections and maintenance, and keep equipment calibrated and clean. A valid NC Class A CDL is preferred, with ability to obtain NC Grade C Water Distribution Certification within six months.

Job Purpose:

• Tests, repairs, and replaces water meters.
• Responds to customer inquiries or complaints.
• Performs routine flushing of fire hydrants and blow offs at dead end waterlines and other problem areas.
• Completes analysis and reports and documents information from inspections, testing, and maintenance.
• Maintains, calibrates and cleans all necessary equipment for jobs.

Supplemental Functions:

• Performs other similar duties as required.

Job Specifications and Qualifications:

Knowledge:

Licensing and Certifications:

• Valid North Carolina Class A Commercial Driver’s License preferred or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire. Failure to obtain within 6 months from date of hire may result in termination.
• Ability to obtain North Carolina Grade C Water Distribution Certification within six (6) months of hire. Failure to obtain within 6 months from date of hire may result in termination
