Job summary

The City of Naperville’s Water Utility is seeking a Senior Water Utility Technician in its Water Supply section to perform skilled and semi-skilled work in operation, inspection, sanitation, maintenance, and repair of the city’s water supply systems.

This role requires three years of experience, a high school diploma, and an IEPA Class C certificate or the ability to obtain one within a year, with responsibilities spanning pumping, controls, records, safety, and regulatory reporting.

Qualifications

• Three years of operation/maintenance experience in water supply facilities.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• IEPA Class C Certificate or ability to obtain within one year.
• Valid Illinois driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Monitor water supply system pressures, flows, tank levels, and chlorination feed rates.
• Plan and perform mechanical/electrical repairs on pumps, PLCs, PRVs, and related equipment.
• Operate and maintain large pumps, PLCs, generators, and other water treatment gear.
• Maintain accurate daily operation and usage records for regulatory purposes.
• Install electrical/mechanical additions and maintain records and inventories.
• Ensure safety, report hazards, and assist in monthly regulatory reports.
