Job summary

The City of Naperville's Water Utility seeks a Water Utility Technician to perform a range of operational, maintenance, repair, and rehabilitation duties while delivering excellent customer service to water and wastewater customers. Duties include testing water quality, meter installations, hydrant work, valve operations, and AMI system support.

Qualified applicants will have a high school diploma, two years of utility location/construction experience, and a valid Illinois driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of utility location or related field experience.
• Valid State of Illinois driver’s license is required.
• IEPA Class D Public Water Supply Operator Certification preferred.
• Cross-Connection Control Device Inspector (CCCDI) certification preferred.
• Experience in mechanical maintenance and electrical work is a plus.
• Computer skills and keyboarding familiarity are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist in testing water quality and responding to pressure calls.
• Perform water meter installations, testing, and data entry into systems.
• Support hydrant maintenance, valve operations, and b-box work.
• Recordkeeping of customer service issues, tests, and repairs.
• Respond to water emergencies and assist with overtime as needed.
• Assist with cross connection control and system mapping projects.
• Support AMI system troubleshooting and meter program activities.
