Job summary

City of Statesville, Public Utilities Department, is seeking a Skilled Laborer - Water Maintenance to perform semi-skilled construction, maintenance and repair tasks in the water/sewer system. The role requires ability to operate hand and power tools, locate utilities, and follow safety procedures.

Shifts are Monday through Friday 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, 18+, and one year experience with power tools and with motorized equipment such as a

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• One (1) year of experience using power tools in construction work, building maintenance, or water maintenance.
• One (1) year of experience operating and maintaining motorized equipment such as a front-end loader or backhoe.

Responsibilities

• Performs manual and semi-skilled tasks related to construction, repair, and maintenance.
• Locates utilities on the job, digs out utilities manually or by machine.
• Performs simple measurements; interprets meter readings; performs routine safety inspections.
• Transports materials, tools, and equipment to and from the job sites; sets up and removes warning signs and traffic control devices.
• Operates hand and power tools, tampers, jackhammers, fire hydrants, gas monitors, air compressors, generators, chainsaws, and front-end loaders.
• Maintains truck inventory; maintains clean and safe work area.
