Job summary

American Water is seeking a Superintendent, Treatment to lead the operation, maintenance and optimization of water and/or wastewater treatment facilities to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant service delivery.

You will supervise treatment operations personnel, manage regulatory compliance and budgets, and drive continuous improvement in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations. Local travel is possible, with an annual incentive plan in addition to base compensation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in operational discipline, management, or related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in water and/or wastewater treatment operations.
• 2+ years leading, supervising, or coordinating operational teams in a regulated utility, municipal, or industrial environment.
• Experience managing compliance, safety, and operational performance objectives.
• Experience developing operating budgets and supporting capital investment programs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily operations of water and/or wastewater treatment facilities ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Provide leadership and development for operations personnel.
• Ensure treatment processes meet water quality and discharge standards while optimizing performance.
• Develop, manage and monitor operating and maintenance budgets; support capital planning.
• Coordinate with engineering, maintenance, laboratory, regulatory, and operations teams.
