Job summary

American Water seeks an Operations Superintendent to direct day-to-day facilities and personnel in water and wastewater operations. You will lead regional construction, operations, and maintenance within budget, ensuring safety, quality, and regulatory compliance across a dispersed team.

Responsibilities include policy implementation, cost-effective programs, and collaboration with stakeholders to optimize performance. Valid driver’s license and 3–5 years of ops leadership are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in operational discipline, management, or related technical discipline or equivalent experience preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3-5 years managing operational areas and operating units, and managing and meeting performance targets.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning regional construction, operations, and maintenance within budget.
• Lead implementation of standards, targets, policies to improve operational efficiency and profitability.
• Ensure operational integrity (quality, environment, health, safety, security) is maintained.
• Develop economical and efficient programs to meet costs and customer requirements.
• Interface with regulatory entities and represent company positions in proceedings.
• Provide analysis and support for reports, budgets, and business plans.
• Coach and develop employees within functional areas.
