Job summary

American Water is seeking a Superintendent, Treatment to lead front-line water production teams and implement operational processes in our treatment facilities in Colts Neck, NJ.

The role requires supervising staff, coordinating training and certifications, and managing maintenance and safety programs to ensure compliant, high-quality water delivery. Travel to sites and weekend/holiday coverage may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, or related field preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Strong computer skills including MS Office and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a team of front-line staff engaged in production operations.
• Schedule training to ensure operator certifications meet regulatory standards.
• Coordinate construction of new/upgrade facilities within the CAPEX budget.
• Maintain a preventative maintenance program to reduce OPEX and defer CAPEX.
• Ensure treated water meets regulatory standards and company policies.
