Kitsap Public Utility District is seeking a hands-on Water/Wastewater Operations staff member in Poulsbo, WA. The role focuses on operation and maintenance of KPUD-owned water systems, requiring hands-on diagnostics, repairs, and routine system checks to ensure safe drinking water.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Water Distribution Manager OIT or Level I certification required.
• Washington State driver’s license required.
• Age 18 or older.

Responsabilités

• Reviews new concepts and ideas (e.g. water hydraulics).
• Receives feedback and communicates clearly and professionally.
• Diagnose, disassemble and repair water-related infrastructure and equipment.
• Work alone or in a team to identify and repair problems safely and efficiently.
• Uphold KPUD’s core values in all interactions with customers and colleagues.
• Contribute to KPUD’s mission of strengthening communities through reliable utility services.
• Identify hazards and follow safety precautions during utility work.
• Ensure safe drinking water delivery by monitoring water quality and responding to inquiries.
• Identify operation and maintenance deficiencies and perform repairs as needed.
• Perform maintenance activities under supervision.
• Climb storage tanks and enter confined spaces when required.
• Read, repair, and replace water meters.
• Conduct valve exercising, flushing, and inspection of control valves, hydrants, tanks and standpipes.
• Operate vehicles and power tools and basic equipment.
• Use PC, iPad, Excel, Word, Outlook, and related software.
• Participate in on-call rotations and respond to emergencies outside regular hours.
• Be available for on-call statuses about monthly two-day periods.
