Job summary

Douglas County Public Works Wastewater Utility Division is seeking a Utilities System Technician to ensure proper maintenance and operation of the county's wastewater collection and treatment systems. The role supports a team of professionals delivering essential public services to residents.

The vacancy may be filled at Technician Trainee, Technician I, or Technician II levels depending on qualifications and experience, with the Trainee level described in this posting.

Qualifications

• Requires High School diploma or GED and 1 year of experience in basic plumbing and/or construction or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain County water and sewage treatment plants and distribution systems to provide safe, reliable service.
• Check wells, tanks and booster stations; keep sites clean; repair meter pits as needed.
• Mark underground utilities for water system operations.
• Set up traffic controls and direct traffic around work sites; perform routine maintenance at facilities and replace filters and seals.
